I was listening to Doris Burke call the Golden State Warriors vs. Milwaukee Bucks game this past Friday and she started to talk about how much young talent was on the Bucks and the difficulties and frustration that a young team can go through when trying to find their rhythm, grow chemistry, understand each other’s roles and adjust to a higher level of play. As I was listening to her she said something that stood out to me,
“You can’t rush repetition. You can’t rush experience.”
These words truly resonated with me because this quote doesn’t only relate to the Milwaukee Bucks or just athletes in general. It relates to real life. Being 23-years old and beginning my journey in the industry post-college and growing career-wise there are many times where I question my career path: where am I going next? Why hasn’t this happened yet? When is it going to happen? Is it even going to happen? Uncertainty and impatience sets in. Her words, although not meant for me in this context, brought me back to the realization that you cannot rush this process. For all of the creators, entrepreneurs, journalists, athletes, musicians, students and everyone who is working hard towards a career goal or switching lanes onto a new career path, keep pushing. Let’s get to it. #GoalSettingGoalGetting.
