Logically you know that going back is the key to advancing and having that career you’ve always dreamed about. So, what’s stopping you?

It’s anxiety, isn’t it? You’re nervous that going back to school will be too hard. The thing is, you’re not alone in this fear — and, believe it or not, returning to college as a working adult is actually easier than you think. In fact, you may even be surprised at the amazing personal gains that result from pursuing your education.  So go ahead and take the leap!

Back in August we gave you tips on how to accelerate your future by going back to college; for example, how to request information on degrees offered, applying to college, and financial aid. All of that seems achievable, but the real concern is whether or not you can do it. Can you balance work, family, life, and school? The answer is, yes you can! As more and more working adults are returning to college, academic institutions are rising to the challenge of meeting the specific needs of this new diversified student body.

The most notable change is the increased flexibility of classes. Colleges understand that as a working adult, you have a lot of responsibilities and not a lot of time to fulfill all of them. With that in mind, Albertus Magnus has developed three specific programs for adults, one of which is sure to fit your scheduling needs:

New Dimensions: Take one course at a time, one class per week, in a continuous sequence. Enjoy the peace of mind of having a program of study completely planned out. Conveniently offered in New Haven and East Hartford.

Accelerated Degree Program: Take one or two courses at a time in eight-week sessions. Advance at your own pace with an individualized plan of study. Offered in New Haven.

FLEX: Take classes online, on campus, or both:  Accelerated, eight-week classes that allow you to earn 30 credits in one year just by taking two classes per term.

Each one of these programs offers the same degrees and concentrations you’ll find in the traditional program, with the same accredited professors. The only difference is that these accelerated classes cater to your schedule.

To further guide you toward academic success, the Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence (CTLE) at Albertus Magnus College provides academic support services that focus on increasing success and retention, enhancing classroom learning through the use of high-impact practices, and providing opportunities for students to collaborate in the search for truth and academic excellence. So if you need any help, we’ve got your back.

As you can see, enrolling in college as a working adult is actually very conceivable. In fact, returning at this point of your life even has its benefits.
