Albertus Magnus College celebrates World Mental Health Day each year by partnering with Fresh Check Day, an organization that, according to their website, “is an uplifting mental health promotion and suicide prevention event that includes interactive expo booths, peer-to-peer messaging, support of multiple campus departments and groups, free food, entertainment, and exciting prizes and giveaways.”
Albertus students had a blast! Some booths included Albertus Serves, where students could learn more about volunteer opportunities in local New Haven and Hamden communities, Paint Your Art Out! to provide art demos and celebrate creative expression, the Falcon Athletics Boost! booth with active games and exercises for de-stressing, Make a Rock, Take a Rock from the Masters of Art Therapy and Counseling department, and Trash Your Insecurities, a booth on positive reinforcement.
This is just one of the many events run by Student Services and the Counseling Center that help students during midterm weeks at Albertus.
