NACA Northeast Regional Conference

My name is Leilim Chang and I am the director of programming in our Student Government Association here at Albertus Magnus College. Going to the National Association for Campus Activities (NACA) Conference, I wasn’t sure what to expect; I was only told that it was a conference that will help me get plenty of new ideas for campus.

I had no idea what this meant. After the weekend was done, and it was time to head back to school, my peers and I did not want to leave; we did not want the conference to end! We made so many connections with other schools and learned a lot about what they do to engage and involve their students with events on campus.

There were so many showcases with talented artists, guest speakers, networking events, so many novelty ideas, it was just overall a great experience. Many of schools were from New York, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Maryland, and more. At first, we were all a bit intimidated just because we were one of the smallest schools to be attending the conference, but once we felt comfortable, we really embraced the experience.

Many schools brought a lot of students, while we only brought six students, plus our advisors. NACA brought all of us closer than what we were before the conference.

We got to bond heavily and got to really know each other more despite the all-day workshops, and long hours. We booked many great showcasing acts that will be coming to Albertus Magnus College in the spring semester of 2018 and are very excited to announce them to the student body.

I truly believe that if we were offered to go to NACA next year, we’d all say yes in a heartbeat. It’s been a great way to get involved and give back to the campus.
