In 2022, the Albertus Magnus College Drama Club was revived after years of hardship. That year they held their first playwright contest, which was a success that debuted a student-written play—The Atomic Family From Outerspace. In the second year of their contest, they received an unprecedented number of submissions and decided to perform two plays on the same night– Getting A Head By Tessa Schober ‘24 and The Five Stages By Kristian Lozada ‘25.

Amity Transition Academy (ATA), a community and vocationally based program, was founded
by Patricia Fitzgerald with the mission to help prepare high school students with intellectual
disabilities to transition into future employment. The program collaborates with Albertus Magnus
College, providing classroom space and creating unique work opportunities for the students on
campus. ATA quickly caught the attention of the Master of Arts in Art Therapy & Counseling
(MAATC) program director Dr. Lisa Furman. The mission of the ATA inspired Dr. Furman to
foster a connection with Fitzgerald and introduce art therapy into programming by offering an
internship placement at the Amity Transition Academy.

On October 12th of 2023, Albertus Magnus College alumnus and police officer Brendan Clark ‘23 arrived on the scene of a heart attack while on duty in Berlin, CT. Along with Officer Aimee Kryzkowski, Clark performed twenty to thirty minutes of CPR on the victim, Henry Lavette. Miraculously, Lavette regained his pulse and was taken to the hospital, where he would go on to make a full recovery.
