Embracing Your Journey: a Conversation with Natoy Fowler ’20

On Tuesday, April 26, the Department of Philosophy and Religion hosted a virtual evening conversation with an accomplished alumna of the College who has been doing some exciting work. Since graduating in 2020, Natoy Fowler (BA, Art) has been working on joint degrees at Howard University in Washington, DC: a Masters of Social Work (MSW) and a Masters of Divinity (MDiv).

In the recorded conversation, Ms. Fowler walks us through the twists and turns of her own educational journey — from her childhood in Jamaica and her family’s move to Bridgeport, CT, through her studies in several college programs and graduation from Albertus. Through it all, Ms. Fowler shares that she has held to one key principle: Find out what you love to do — and do it!

The conversation with Albertus faculty includes discussion of just what a Masters of Divinity degree is and what it involves, how that degree relates to the practice of social work, how “religion” and “spirituality” play distinct roles in her studies at Howard, and much more.
