Originally a commemoration of the Mexican army’s victory at the Battle of Puebla over an invading force, Cinco de Mayo has become a celebration of Mexican heritage, especially among Mexican Americans.

We pray in thanksgiving for the richness and vibrancy of Mexican culture and the many contributions of Mexican people to our world. We ask for your blessings on the Mexican community and its continued flourishing. May we be dedicated to learning from one another’s cultures and to building a more just and peaceful world. Amen.
