The Master of Arts in Art Therapy and Counseling Program Student Organization (MAATC-S), in partnership with faculty and students of the program, collaborated in creating a God’s Eye Tree installation in front of Aquinas Hall. The effort is a beautiful and heartfelt gesture that sings sweetly without a single word.
In honoring this sacred and indigenous Huichol art form, God’s Eyes acknowledge our own deep intentions, each other, our families, and our communities. We come together through our art as each creation finds its true home amongst its neighboring pieces.
Within the mysterious and swirling eye of the storm, we can remember the God’s Eye center; its symbol of the unknown and our own protection.
This installation has endured several storms throughout the season and brings color and movement to the stillness and grayness of winter. As spring approaches, the woven forms will be there to greet the transition of the season with steadfast commitment.
May this tree be a symbol of strength, love and compassion throughout our challenging and hopeful journeys. Let’s continue to take care of ourselves and each other.
