Albertus Art Therapy Student Organization Participates in Trans Awareness Week

The Albertus Magnus College Master of Arts in Art Therapy and Counseling Student Organization (MAATC-SO) was honored to be invited to take part and participate in the Celebrating Trans Awareness Week at Albertus Magnus College “Lifting Up Transgender and Non-Binary Voices”, a first-time event held on November 18th, 2020. This event was facilitated by Dr. Bonnie Pepper (she/her), Jillian Ceentano (she/her), Moe Shura (he/him), and Kelsey Alexander (they/them). The event celebrated the transgender and non-binary experience while giving space for questions in a nonjudgmental environment.

As a closing activity, MAATC-SO representatives Caroline Heilbroner-Hammel (she/her) and Emily Scranton (she/they), introduced an art activity directive that invited attendees to create a piece of art that represented what it meant to actively support the transgender and non-binary community. This uplifting art activity followed with those who participated sharing their artwork with the group and talking briefly about what the art meant to them after listening to the panelists. With permission from attendees, we are honored to showcase their artistic voices.
