With 2016 approaching, the holidays are a time for contemplation; let’s take a moment to reflect upon the past year. As we do this, let’s look at the good and the bad because only by learning from the past can we move forward in creating a better world for us and our children.
Indeed over the last twelve months we have been through a lot of sadness, but the new year offers us an opportunity to restart, refresh and rejuvenate. Imagine if we could harness all the magical cheer of the Christmas season and send it out into the world. In the Albertus Magnus tradition, we believe that we can.
Let us come together in solidarity and support to work with the leaders in the global community for peace among nations and for all people of all faiths. Let us play our part in reaffirming the belief that every human life has value and it is our duty to protect that dignity. In the words of Pope Francis, “We need to communicate with each other, to discover the gifts of each person, to promote that which unites us, and to regard our differences as an opportunity to grow in mutual respect.”
To this means, let us offer this prayer for peace and healing:
God, we have experienced great suffering
through acts of violence upon one another.
Rather than terror, may we experience healing
and love among all of our brothers and sisters.
May our world leaders be inspired with wisdom
to bring about peace in our fractured world.
And may we all have the courage and strength
to seek reconciliation among ourselves, in our
communities and in our world. Amen.
As our hearts go out to those in need, both close to home and across the globe, may we find ourselves growing more and more appreciative of our family and friends. Here at Albertus Magnus, we wish a warm, happy and healthy holiday season to you and yours.
May you find much happiness in the new year, while standing in unity for peace on Earth.
