Experiential Learning Day

Experiential Learning DayExperiential Learning Day, now in its fifth year, is a chance for all students both Graduate and Undergraduate, day and night, to come together and share, learn, teach, and discover all that they have experienced in their years here at Albertus Magnus College. With such wonderful traditions and so much to offer, it becomes clear to see why such an insightful event opens up opportunities, ideas, and possibilities for all its students to learn about and participate in. Students can discover the ins and outs of thesis research, internships, graduate studies and applications, student leadership, student teaching, and study abroad from the many presentations offered throughout the day.

IMG_8382On March 25th research and information sessions were held throughout the Tagliatela Academic Center over the course of the morning demonstrating the many diverse and varied fields of study available here at Albertus. Students heard information on History, such as the wives of King Louis XIV, and thesis research on the utopian vision enacted while settling our own colony of New Haven. Other presentations included a documentary on punk rock, study abroad, insights into the stigma of being single, interning at the Maritime Aquarium as well as many more. We even had 7th and 8th graders from St. Mary’s School in Branford spend the day attending presentations and participating in a lab experiment using live bacteria.

Every one of us here works hard and is dedicated to our future, and by participating in these sessions we have the opportunity to help others fulfill their requirements, finish their research, and earn the degrees they’ve been working so hard to achieve. Other highlights of the day included a research poster session and art show, awards ceremony, mock graduate school classes and opportunities to participate in thesis research studies. The poster session was jamming with over 200 attendees while close to 100 students participated in research in action.

Experiential Learning Day is all about us, the students, and ensuring that we know all there is that Albertus has to offer, both academically and professionally. Led by students, the programs are designed as a way to share and help each other, to invite others into our experiences and help make them their own, or to lead each other to our own path. Each and every one of us is here for the same reason, a better education, a better future, and there is no one better suited to help and support each other than ourselves.
