My name is Meg Thornton, a sophomore on the Albertus Magnus College women’s basketball team. This November, we traveled to Allentown, Pennsylvania to participate in a tournament hosted by Muhlenberg College.
To begin the tournament, we played against the home team, Muhlenberg. The Mules were a very good team. Despite losing the game, we made good strides towards becoming a more cohesive unit. After the game we returned to the hotel to rest and relax before our last game the following day. In the morning, we woke up and had our complimentary continental breakfast, which was delicious. We returned to Muhlenberg to play in the consolation game against Wilkes College. This was a much more even match up than our first game and although we could not pull out the win, we again showed improvement in performance on the court.
Despite the fact that we ended the weekend 0-2 at the Muhlenberg Tournament, we had an enjoyable trip. Between laughing with each other, playing alongside one another, and just the overall experience of traveling together, this tournament geared our team up for the long season ahead. I look forward to many more fun team experiences through my remaining years at Albertus Magnus College.
“The primary objective of the Athletic Department at Albertus Magnus College is not victory, but instead it is the pursuit of the goal to conduct our athletic programs the right way, with victory being a by-product of doing things the right way… Athletics serves as an integral component of the student experience, whether the student is an active student-athlete or non-athletic member of the Albertus Magnus community.”
Albertus Athletics Mission Statement
