The value of a liberal arts education is not lost on Dianna Macchiaverna Colman ’70. Growing up in a blue-collar environment in Danbury, Connecticut, Dianna was the first in her family to graduate high school, let alone college. Her father, a first generation American, dropped out to proudly serve in World War II, and Dianna distinctly remembers her mother getting her GED.

An Albertus education is all about pursuing the truth, applying what you learn to make a difference in the world, and sharing the fruits of your search for truth with others. Since graduating from Albertus in 2005, Jenny Willets Rice has done just that through a career in building healthy communities. 

The blanket definition of leadership is the ability of an individual or group of people to influence
and guide followers or members of an organization, society, or team. Leadership — and the
seamless transfer of it — is defined by how one responds to challenges.

Whether it’s her liberal arts foundation or lifelong friendships, Albertus has given Tina much to
be grateful for, and she has been expressing her thanks as a loyal supporter of the College ever
since.

Throughout her four decades teaching at Albertus, Dr. Patricia Yeaman found unique ways to connect with the thousands of students who attended her sociology classes. Retiring in 2019, Dr. Yeaman recalled, “I spent my entire adult life at Albertus, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.”
