Earning my MFA not only helped me develop my craft as a fiction writer, but it also has kept me excited about continuing to grow and seeking connection with other writers. I am always attending writing conferences, workshops, and I participate in two different writers’ groups.

I write each day–at least fifteen minutes of free writing based on a prompt and work for projects-in-progress. Reading is also a necessary writing habit. I am continuing to revise the novel manuscript that was my Master’s project for the MFA program. I am a persistent personality and continue to make progress with my craft. I am also working on some short fiction. My writing routine is a bit erratic and unpredictable these days. I write either when ideas come or when I get to carve out the time. Once I sit down and it’s going well, however, I can be immersed and committed for hours.

I don’t have a particular space where my writing happens because it happens just about anywhere–at coffee shops, the library, home, sometimes when in motion and I have to stop and jot it all down. That’s what I love about being a writer! Your studio can be anywhere as long as you have a mobile device or pen and paper.
