For the spring 2019 semester, Leilim Chang-Salazar was accepted to the Universidad Veritas in Costa Rica through the American Institute for Foreign Study as a study-abroad student representing Albertus Magnus College. While overseas, she currently enrolled in classes ranging from Philosophy, to Spanish, to International Marketing.
“My experience abroad thus far has been amazing. At first it was a bit intimidating not knowing anyone or knowing the area, but I was quick to meet other students that felt the same way.” Leilim explains, “The only thing we had to do was adventure. Costa Rica has many beautiful sights in both the Pacific side, and Caribbean side of the country. This country has it all—hiking trails to the top of mountains and volcanoes, sandy beaches, and cities with unlimited shopping malls.”

“The rhythm of life here is Pura Vida, ‘pure life’. It is the most relaxing, yet annoying thing ever. As Americans, we follow through with business meetings by being punctual. Here, it is normal to be late because a person had to say hello to someone on their way there. This lifestyle has shown me personally to take it day by day, take it easy and enjoy life.”
Leilim is a current junior at Albertus Magnus College majoring in Health Care Management. She plans to graduate in the Spring of 2020.
