“Unbind him and let him go free”
John 11: 44
The iconic story of the raising of Lazarus is rich in meaning and symbol. When Jesus called Lazarus forth from the tomb, he spoke to the community gathered and challenged them to unbind Lazarus. In this stunning moment he left a call for all of us. We are charged with freeing one another. Healing, recovery, personal transformation is not a solitary endeavor. We need a “community” to free us, to unbind us and set us free.
PONDER: How can we reach out and unbind and free others? Let us pray to have the courage to be as compassionate as Jesus when he freed Lazarus.
