Lenten Reflection – Second Week of Lent

“Be intent on the perfection of the present day”

– William Law

Rather than getting lost in thinking about future problems or old concerns, I am challenged by this quote to think of ways to improve myself today and to do my best today. I think focusing on the “now” is a good way to appreciate what is around us, tune in, and reflect on who we are now – and how we can make choices to improve. “Create a new heart in me” seems to me a bold prayer, seeking complete metamorphosis – seeking to overhaul what is there and replace it with something more perfect. It’s asking us to be intent on seeking that perfection.

PONDER:   What are some ways we can seek perfection in our hearts during the day?
