Every time I make a save that the crowd thought was going in, I get the biggest rush. A rush only a soccer goalie can get. Starting as a sophomore was very nerve racking last year, but this year I feel more confident in my ability to perform. My roommate, Kerrigan Loughman, is also my teammate. Having a roommate who is your teammate helps after a tough loss. We lean on each other and are always there for support.
Being a part of a close-knit team is very important to me – and that is what we are, like family. My teammates push me to be a better player and cheer me on, as I do for them. It’s a new year, but our hearts are still heavy from last year’s championship loss. Graduating such great athletes and even better friends was hard. Stepping out on the field without them was difficult for me and my other returning teammates. Team chemistry brought us to the championship and it will bring us again this year, fingers crossed.
As a Albertus Magnus College student-athlete life can be pretty challenging but that’s the best part. There’s always something to do, always something to be a part of and prepare for. I look forward to professors wishing me “good luck” and recognizing me for the work I put in outside of the classroom. Every game and every practice keeps me in line. This preseason I’m super excited to see what the coaches have in store for us, and what we have in store for the league. #GoFalcons #WelcometotheNest
