For the third year in a row the Graduate Leadership Programs at Albertus Magnus College will be spearheading in an exciting, rewarding, and important day at the Davis Street Magnet School in New Haven. On Wednesday, October 26th, we will have students, alumni, faculty, and friends from all the adult Programs at Albertus Magnus College share their knowledge and experience along with the curriculum of Junior Achievement with the students at Davis Street. The events from the past two years were huge successes for all those involved as we brought leadership, financial literacy, and entrepreneurial lessons to students from 2nd to 8th grade!
As some of you already know, Junior Achievement is the world’s largest organization dedicated to educating students about workforce readiness, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy through experiential, hands-on programs, and uses volunteers from industry and academia to help share their programs with children from grades K-8. It is a great organization, and with the partnership between Junior Achievement of Southwest New England and Albertus Magnus College continuing to grow we will help in teaching members of the New Haven community about these important topics.
Junior Achievement provides all the materials and training we will need, and all you have to do is to provide your time. For those of you who are uncomfortable about being in a classroom, don’t worry, the teacher remains with you at all times and will lend support as needed. Additionally, you won’t be alone as we will have teams of two work in each class. We are really excited about the opportunity to spread leadership and business skills to some of our younger community members and hope that you are as well!
A short training session will be held in the evening on the Albertus Magnus College campus 2 weeks prior to the event, and the Leadership/MBA Junior Achievement event will be held from approximately 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, October 26th at the Davis Street Magnet School.
This project will not only serve to support the community, but will also provide important networking opportunities for our alumni and students and we hope you will join us. The JA day will be a lot of fun, and is a very rewarding experience.
Below is a short video of our first Albertus/JA Day.
