What Jobs Can I Find with a Degree in Game and Computer Arts?

Beginning in the Fall of 2020, Albertus Magnus College announced two new degree programs; a Bachelor of Arts & Bachelor of Fine Arts in Game and Computer Arts. These majors focus on visual and interactive art-making, using primarily digital tools. The degree programs introduce you to game-making as an interactive art form with an emphasis on 2D/3D design, multi-media digital asset creation, and creative coding, setting it apart from concentrations already offered.

Albertus’ tight-knit campus culture has quickly adapted to social-distancing with a student-run E-sports club. “The E-sports club gives you the opportunity to connect with friends on campus and experience the community-driven and competitive side of gaming” says staff club advisor Jeremy Peterson.

Graduating students will have the skills to enter into a career in programming, design, and video/audio production. The workforce is rapidly changing, where you must have robust cultural literacy, excellent communication, and flexibility to adapt to an ever-changing technological and global landscape.

Students pursue “coursework in a traditional and new media art production coupled with a practicum in a relevant field…developing the skills to establish themselves in their field of study” states Professor Jerry Nevins, Chair for the Department of Visual and Performing Arts.
