Two Albertus Magnus College Student Affairs Leaders Win NACA Honors

Our Student Affairs division goes above and beyond the job description when it comes to helping students succeed and thrive in every facet of their college experience. The National Association of Campus Activities (NACA) is recognizing those efforts with two of its 2022 achievement awards.

Erin Morrell, who has recently been promoted to Associate Dean for Student Engagement and New Student Orientation, received NACA’s highest honor:  The Founders Award.  This achievement is given to individuals who have exemplified the standards of professional integrity and conduct; have achieved stature in their profession or academic pursuits; hold the esteem of colleagues and peers; and have worked to further the field of campus activities programming.

“I’m completely humbled and honored to be receiving NACA’s highest award. I am even more touched to have been nominated by my friends and colleagues that I have worked with over the years. Being a part of NACA has meant so much to me throughout my career and I hope to continue to share my talents both within NACA and the field of Campus Activities for years to come.”

Erin dedicates herself to co-advising all student organizations on campus, leading New Student and Transfer Orientation sessions, and being a support system for her students.

Miriam Randall, the Coordinator for International Student Services and Engagement at Albertus, was honored with NACA’s Outstanding Diversity Achievement Award. This award recognizes individuals in institutions that positively contribute to the development of programs and services promoting cultural diversity, understanding, and/or awareness.

Miriam Randall

“I am truly humbled to receive the honor of the NACA Outstanding Diversity Achievement Award. Each diversity initiative I’ve made has required collaboration from the Student Affairs Office as well as the college as a whole. I couldn’t have made the various events possible without the support of Erin Morrell, Sr. Ana Gonzalez, and others. Working at Albertus, we are exposed to various backgrounds and I am thrilled to be able to work with and for our diverse group of students to ensure they’re represented. I am grateful to work at an institution so supportive of diversity.”

As a professional working in the international education field for over six years, Miriam is devoted to creating a comfortable atmosphere for students while advocating for diversity and promoting cross-cultural communication. Students look to her for guidance and see her as a source of compassion and support.

Our students are a reflection of the impact both Erin and Miriam make on campus on a daily basis. Here is what some of our student club leaders have to say about their achievements:

“Erin is an incredible asset to the Office of Student Affairs and to the student community. I can’t tell you how many times Erin has been a tremendous resource to myself. I believe you don’t find many individuals like her.”

Jared McKenzie-Smith ’25, Student Government Association, Black Student Union

“Miriam is such a kind and empathetic person. She cares so much for her students and shows the utmost respect and compassion for them. All of her students look to her for guidance and feel the warmth she radiates. This all just shows how deserving she is of this award. Congrats!

Erin is well-deserving of every accolade she is given. She is a wonderful club advisor and always advocates for us students. She is so kind, caring, and helps us all become better student leaders. She has shaped my experience here at Albertus in an integral way through our club work, NACA, and being someone I can go to. I am so thankful for her and happy for her to win this award!”

Amina Khokhar ’22, Campus Activities Board President and NACA Award Recipient

“Erin, Congratulations on your award. You deserve even more recognition for what you have done and will continue to do. I owe my leadership start-up to Erin for selecting me to be a part of the Leadership Immersion Program which has sprouted yet another seed into our Albertus community. I can’t thank her enough!

Miriam, thank you for your hard work and the connections you have made with our international students and the student leaders upon campus. You have been nothing short of greatness and will continue to do so. Your smile and willingness to help has always been something that I admire and will use as a page in my book as well.”
