Meet Morgan Violette ’22, an undergraduate student at Albertus Magnus College. With one year left in her degree program, and with the guidance of her support system, Morgan decided to change her major entirely. Currently a junior, we were able to check in with Morgan and ask about her progress thus far.

Why I Switched My Major
As I began my time at Albertus Magnus College back in 2018, I had no idea becoming a Communications major would be the path I would take in 2021 — just shy of a year from my graduation date. Every staff member, whether on campus or off, truly cares about the success of each and every student. Our faculty and staff are knowledgeable and share an abundance of resources to assist the process of picking a major that will stick with you.
For me personally, I came to Albertus as a Psychology major. I was very unsure if this was the path I wanted to take. I realized that I wasn’t the right fit for this field over my first semester of psychology courses. I am lucky that I had an advisor that really knew me and could guide me into the direction I wanted to take. We talked through all of my interests, my hobbies, and what I feel I have real talent in. After going back and forth for a while, I finally came to the conclusion that a form of Communications would end up being a great path for me to follow.
Learning on the Job
This Fall semester, I was presented an amazing opportunity to intern in a marketing office. As a member of the women’s soccer team, I have a busy schedule whether it be practice or lift. Having this responsibility, on top of classes, a part time job, and an internship is a lot to juggle. Luckily, my professors and coaches are very supportive and understanding and are flexible enough to work with me. The Office of Career Services is always open for students that have questions or need guidance.
My Ultimate Career Goal
I would love to work for the Walt Disney World Corporation as a Journalist or a Digital Media Editor. Since I was young, Disney has always been my favorite place to go and has provided me with some of the best memories I have ever had with family and friends. Having the chance to work for a place that means so much to me has always seemed impossible.
With the opportunities and resources I have here at Albertus, I feel very comfortable in saying the staff here will do everything they need to do to prepare me for this ultimate career goal both through my classes and through my internship work as well.
