Local to New Haven, Connecticut, Ariel Perez ’20 is graduating in the Spring of 2020 with a liberal arts degree with a concentration in Healthcare Management. Ariel currently works as an assistant manager for Member Services at Yale New Haven Health with previous experience as a pharmaceutical technician. He knew that he needed to finish his degree to continue to grow in his career, and began the task of searching for online degree programs.
“I chose Albertus Magnus College because it met all of my needs. I am married, and working full time, so I needed a college that could sympathize with a person fully in the middle of life, and offer a program that was flexible enough to thrive as a student, a husband, and a full-time employee.”
With the help of an academic advisor, Ariel quickly felt at home at Albertus and enrolled his first day on campus. Although he attended college entirely online, Ariel’s perception of a “liberal arts education” changed dramatically.
“I wasn’t as thrilled to major in liberal arts, until I took my first liberal arts class. Humanities is something totally different than I expected it to be. It is very much about coming into your own…I realized that it was going to make me a better person; a better manager, a better communicator, a better leader of people than anything technical or clinical could have done.”
Ariel is one of our student featured interviews for the 2020 Senior Stories series, which focuses on students’ educational experience leading up to graduation and how they have been impacted by the Albertus Community, on and off campus.
