Albertus Students Repair Home for Alternative Spring Break

This year, Albertus Magnus College students volunteered their time for Alternative Spring Break to help repair homes with Habitat for Humanity in the Burlington and Mercer Counties, New Jersey.

“I think the students and staff who went on this year’s Alternative Spring Break trip to Maple Shade, New Jersey had an overwhelmingly positive experience,” says Kelsey Alexander, a volunteer and the Coordinator for Prevention of Gender-Based Violence at Albertus Magnus College. “One of the best experiences of the week was starting and finishing a number of projects on a home, including fixing and painting a front porch, a back porch, doing some yard work, and cleaning and painting a garage.”

“…It was really satisfying to see a project through from start to finish over those two days.  We also got to meet the woman who owns this house, and got to work alongside her, which made the work feel even more meaningful.”

Community service is a constant practice at Albertus, stemming from our Mission and Dominican Pillar of Service. Click here to view more photos of the service project.
