On February 4 and 5, 17 members of the Student Alumni Association, including the new Executive Board, attended the Council for Advancement and Support of Education Affiliated Student Advancement Programs (CASE ASAP) District 1 Conference at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. They were able to share ideas and programs with over 200 students from 17 different schools.
VP of Programming, Lauren Parisi described conference as “a wonderfully intoxicating environment to be in because everyone who was there wanted to be there and it made it impossible not to feel excited.” The conference inspired Matt Stoll, VP of Finance to learn more about our own organization and the college and to be a better leader within our Student Alumni Association.
SAA President, Nikki Kern, is “excited to apply what our executive board has picked up from this conference and see firsthand how these new approaches will engage our Albertus student body.”
The Student Alumni Association also earned accolades for their program, Change for Change as Outstanding Student Advancement Program. Senior Stacie Hurley was also named Outstanding Student Leader for her exceptional work as president from in 2015 and 2016.
This program began two years ago to encourage fellow students to give back to their peers and raise awareness of the importance of giving back to others. Their motto was “Albertus is a family and family finds a way to support one another” To date, Change for Change has raised nearly $2,000, which has been given out in scholarships to current students.
With these District honors, they are now advanced into the running to receive the same awards at the national level. To learn more about SAA and their activities follow them on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook, @AlbertusSAA.
