The Power of Advocacy in Healthcare Administration
Contributed by: Mandy Goin ’26 M.S.
As a recent Albertus Magnus College graduate of the Master of Science in Healthcare Administration (MSHA) program, my plan is to further pursue a healthcare leadership role. I have always had a passion for long term care, specifically geriatrics.
In addition to obtaining my Master’s, I recently have received my Connecticut License to practice as a long term care administrator. Being in the MSHA program has magnified my ability to perform in this capacity, and has granted me the additional knowledge to successfully lead a healthcare facility.

With the rigorous and essential training formulated by Albertus, we studied about leadership, business finance, and healthcare law, and I now have the ability to ensure that every resident that resides in any building that I lead, receives safe, respectful, and high-quality care.
In addition, I have the ability to create an environment where dedicated staff can thrive by me leading with my compassionate and value driven skills. And lastly, I can bridge frontline care with strategic operations to improve the lives and outcomes for all residents and their loved ones.
I am grateful that Albertus Magnus College offers this degree program, as it has shaped me for my future, and has allowed me to continue to work towards my passion. For any future healthcare professionals looking to pursue a Master’s in Healthcare Administration, just remember, your goals are worth the work. Healthcare administration affects real clinical systems and real people who may need health related advocacy. That impact alone is powerful, and you can be part of it!
