Amina Khokhar ’22, an Art Management major from East Hartford at the top of her class, received the Ken Bedini Student Leader Award from the NACA Northeast Region on Saturday, October 30th.

The award was created to recognize the outstanding contributions of the region’s undergraduate student leaders who make a difference in their institutions. Amina was nominated by her advisor and Coordinator for Student Engagement Dan Hurley along with fellow Campus Activities Board (CAB) Vice President Steve Sciaraffa. They credited her hard work as the President of CAB, among her many other leadership roles on campus. During a year of so many challenges due to the pandemic, Amina led the CAB team through a series of programs that allowed students to attend virtual and in-person events while keeping everyone safe.
Fellow senior Steve Sciaraffa has seen Amina grow over the past three years. He says her leadership with the Campus Activities Board is unmatched.
“I would not be where I am today without her encouragement, her friendship, and, above all, her leadership. Many students at Albertus can say the same.”
– Steve Sciaraffa, CAB Vice President

Dan Hurley stated in his nomination letter that he firmly believed the Albertus community has benefitted from Amina’s contributions, becoming a true Fearless Falcon.
“I have witnessed Amina cultivate a vibrant, safe, and inclusive environment for her friends, students, and coworkers. She is one of the hardest-working students I know, balancing class, work, being an active student leader, and internships.”
-Dan Hurley, Student Engagement Coordinator
Amina gave a statement reflecting on her surprise nomination and as many would put it, a well-deserved win.
“I am so honored, grateful, and humbled to have won this award. It is going to be the highlight of my senior year. I am appreciative of Dan Hurley, Erin Morrell, and all of my CAB members, who not only are my peers but my family. Thank you to Steve and Dan for nominating me!”

As a member of the Honors Program, Amina has maintained a 4.0 GPA, making the Dean’s List every semester throughout her career at Albertus.
