Conoce a Lucia Gutierrez ’23. Ella es una estudiante internacional de Hermosillo, México que se identifica como Latina y Mexicana.
Estudiando Administracion de Salud, ¡es tan involucrada que creó su propio club! El Club ‘Mi Amigo’, del que es presidenta, apoya y rompe los estereotipos de las personas latinas tanto dentro como fuera de la comunidad Albertus.
También ayuda con el Spring Learning Center, dando tutoría a personas que han aprendido inglés como segundo idioma.
Fuera del aula, Lucia es una nadadora y buceadora en Albertus. Ella obtuvo el tercer lugar en el estilo de nado libre de 50 yardas en la Asociación Intercolegial de Natación y Clavado de Nueva Inglaterra 2020.
“Al momento de la competencia estaba muy nerviosa, porque era mi primera vez compitiendo en Massachusetts. Fue una experiencia increíble! Y más el representar a Albertus, al igual que a México! Esta medalla no es solo un triunfo mío, sino de Coach Lauren, mi equipo, mi familia y todos los que me apoyan día a día. Pero esto es solo el comienzo de cosas grandes.”

Es una persona apasionada, siempre buscando ayudar a los demás, diciendo “si tienes la oportunidad de ayudar, hazlo. Las pequeñas cosas pueden cambiar la vida de alguien”.
Meet Lucia Gutierrez ’23. She is an international student from Hermosillo, Mexico who identifies as Latina and Mexican. This Health Care Management Major is so involved on campus, she created her own club! The ‘Mi Amigo’ Club, of which she is president, supports and breaks stereotypes of Latinx people both inside and outside the Albertus community. She also helps with the Spring Learning Center, tutoring people who have learned English as a second language. Outside of the classroom, Lucia is a standout swimmer and diver at Albertus. She made Third Place on the 50 yards freestyle in the New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association 2020. Lucia says, “at the moment of the competition, I was very nervous because it was my first time competing in Massachusetts. It was an incredible experience! And even more to represent Albertus, as well as Mexico! This medal is not only my accomplishment but also of Coach Lauren, my team, my family, and everyone who supports me every day. But this is just the beginning of great things.” She is proud of her heritage, and considers being Latina a ‘superpower!’ Lucia is a passionate person, always looking to help others, saying “if you have the opportunity to help, do it. Little things can change someone’s life.”
