Jacqueline Kozin ’94, a distinguished public servant and advocate, returned to campus to speak to students as part of the 15th Experiential Learning Day, themed The Power of Experience. Her visit marked a full-circle moment for the first-generation college graduate, who has gone on to lead a remarkable career in public service, most recently as Deputy Secretary of the State for Connecticut.
Growing up as the granddaughter of Holocaust survivors from Ukraine, Jacqueline shared how her family’s resilience and the values instilled in her—along with the education she received at Albertus—have guided her through roles in international nonprofits, political campaigns, and state government. She shared how her Albertus education laid the groundwork for her success, highlighting the lasting impact of her professors and the writing and analytical skills that continue to serve her in every phase of her career.
Jacqueline offered meaningful advice drawn from both personal and professional experience. “It’s up to you to do the work,” she said. “You get what you give.” She emphasized that success comes from commitment and effort, urging students to take full ownership of their education and careers. Jacqueline also shared two guiding principles that have remained constant in her life and work: stay true to yourself and always follow your gut.
