Albertus Small Business Saturday: The Story of Alumnus Pete Civitello ’99 and Northeast Clutch Baseball

In the heart of our community lies a space where passion for baseball meets the power of mentorship—Northeast Clutch Baseball, an indoor training facility designed to elevate athletes both on and off the field. Founded by Albertus Alumnus Pete Civitello ’99 and Paul Carangelo, this dynamic center offers more than just batting cages and pitching mounds; it’s a hub for athletic development, personal growth, and community engagement.
A Facility Built for Excellence
Northeast Clutch Baseball offers athletes of all ages and skill levels the resources to grow. The facility provides a wide range of programs, including private instruction, small group sessions, seasonal camps, and travel teams for players aged 18 and under.
Equipped with:
- Two full batting cages
- Four individual hitting stations
- Portable pitching mounds
- Spacious open turf for team training
The coaching staff brings extensive experience from high school and collegiate levels, ensuring every player receives top-tier instruction tailored to their needs.
More Than Just a Game
At its core, Northeast Clutch Baseball is about more than improving athletic performance—it’s about shaping well-rounded individuals. Pete and Paul are committed to using baseball as a tool to develop essential life skills like leadership, teamwork, and resilience.
“We believe that the game of baseball serves as an exceptional tool for cultivating lifelong learning and citizenship qualities,” says Civitello.
From Falcon to Founder: The Albertus Connection
Pete Civitello’s journey began at Albertus Magnus College, where he was a standout pitcher and team captain. Named a Second-Team All-Great Northeast Athletic Conference player, Pete’s experience at Albertus provided him with the discipline and values that still guide him today.
“My time at Albertus Magnus laid the foundation for both my career in education and my business,” he shares.
Now serving as both a school administrator in the Meriden Public Schools and a small business owner, Pete blends his passions for education and athletics into a mission that benefits the entire community.
Giving Back and Growing Together
Though not currently hiring, Northeast Clutch Baseball is open to connecting with students. They recognize that mentorship doesn’t stop on the field—it extends into careers and communities.
Advice for Aspiring Entrepreneurs from an Albertus Alumnus
Pete offers this advice to fellow Albertus Magnus College students and graduates interested in starting their own businesses:
“Leverage your passion and experiences as a foundation for your venture. Embrace the skills and lessons you’ve learned—teamwork, resilience, and leadership are essential in navigating the challenges of entrepreneurship.”
He also emphasizes the importance of building a strong support network and focusing on relationships over revenue:
“Success is not just about financial gain; prioritize the development of meaningful relationships and a commitment to helping others grow.”
A Community-Driven Future
At Northeast Clutch Baseball, this mindset is more than advice—it’s action. Through scholarships, guidance, and a dedication to every player’s future, they’ve created a business that not only thrives but also gives back.
